Combat Athletics: a FREE CPD lecture for physiotherapists, coaches and all health fitness professionals
A free CPD lecture and demonstrations on Combat Athletics: fighters shoulder injuries, rehab, movement, strength and conditioning and elements of a fighters training.
This lecture was held in partnership between Balance Performance and the ACPSM – Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine – on evening of Wednesday 30th October 2013 at 113 Gauden Road, Clapham, London SW4 6LE
The aim of the evening was to provide a diverse view of sports medicine and injury as it relates to Combat Athletics from the persepctive of doctor and surgeon, sports injury specilaist, movement, strength and conditioning coaches, a Combat Sports coach and professional/elite fighters from MMA and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Professor Tony Kochhar (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon- expert in shoulder treatment and surgery): Combat sports shoulder injuries, surgery and rehab.
Jonathan Lewis (Physiotherapist and Movement Coach with special interest in resilience): End Stage Rehabilitation; and long term movement habits for future resilience.
Sabina Skala (Strength and Conditioning Coach and Educator): The strength and conditioning of elite fighters
Phill Ireland (Thai Boxing and Strength & Conditioning Coach. A former National Champion – Thai Boxing, World Champion – Doce Pares stick fighting): Striking pad and clinch session demonstration and discussion.
