The Goldby Back to Life™ Programme
Balance's Back pain rehabilitation programme
The Goldby Back To Life™ Programme emerged as a result of collaborative research and scientific investigation into the best form of relief from pain and long term benefit for patients suffering from low back pain.
The research was carried out over a seven year period by Balance Performance Physiotherapy, the St George’s Hospital Back Pain Research Unit and the University of Brighton. The programme has demonstrated effectiveness in clinical trials and is beneficial to almost all suffering from low back pain.
We continue to improve this programme as our skills and approach develops.
The programme consists of a ten week course of rehabili tation of four core sets of muscles. These muscles are unique in that their primary function is to protect and support the lumbar spine (low back). After you have had low back pain (what ever the cause of their pain) these muscles stop working in a protective way and the back looses its natural support and protection. It is more vulnerable to forces and other pressures and recurrences of pain come more often. The Goldby Back To Life™ Programme is designed to reverse this trend and correct the back’s natural balance and corset of muscular protection. In this way the back regains its own natural protection.
You need to be referred into the programme by our physiotherapists. If you wish to enter the programme but are not currently having physiotherapy with us you simply need to attend a screening assessment to determine if it is suitable for you.
The programme costs £200 and is run 3 times per year.
