Mick Habgood is Balance Performance’s podiatrist, we are very pleased that he travels back from northern Spain so frequently to work with us. Mick works with men, women and children involved in a vast and diverse array of activities but has a strong background and speciality in:
- Running – Mick is also a running coach and understands the needs of runners transitioning to natural running styles – either barefoot or using minimalist footwear.
- Cycling – Mick has worked closely with our long standing friends at Cycle Fit to gain valuable experience of the unique demands of a cyclist.
- Skiing and snowboarding – the specific designs of ski and snowboarding footwear require a tailored approach, Mick has refined his skills to meet those demands.
Mick is an Australian trained Podiatrist who specialises in treating biomechanical and orthopaedic related injuries of the lower limb. Having initially completed a Sport Science Degree in Sydney, Mick was motivated to become a Sports Podiatrist after being a member of the Sports Medicine Team at the Sydney Swans AFL Club. Years later, he now has extensive experience in the management and treatment of lower limb injuries, having worked alongside some of the best Orthopaedic Surgeons and rehabilitation teams both here and in Australia. Mick has been the consultant Podiatrist for the UK’s biggest ski retailer for a number of season, and his orthotic insoles have also been developed to reduce foot discomfort in the recreational skier as well as maximising the performance and balance within the boots of elite and professional skiers.
‘It’s not uncommon to walk 10,000 steps in a day. So whether your background’s in elite sports or you’re just participating in everyday activities, everyone’s feet are subjected to specific traumas and everyone’s needs are different.’
