Here at Balance we have a fantastic women’s health service. The term “Women’s health” does not just apply to expectant and new mums. "Women of all ages can benefit from the professionals in our specialised team when they look to overcome the unique problems woman may face." 
 
You will find the answers and  solutions you need at our London facility: from menstrual pain and continence issues to the specific diet and fitness concerns of a woman.

Balance has physiotherapists, personal trainers and pilates teachers, acupuncturists (including a traditional Chinese medicine trained practitioner) a dietician, all with a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you take control and regain independence.

Balance can help greatly in your whole journey through pregnancy:

  • treating pain,
  • coping with the extreme changes in posture,
  • giving advice on back care
  • recommending ‘back friendly’ equipment to buy.

We provide expertise on:

  • how best to continue with your fitness programme
  • safe exercises you can and should begin – like strengthening those all important pelvic floor muscles.

Our women’s health physiotherapist is Sally Murray, she has a passionate belief that so many of the problems associated with pregnancy are treatable or avoidable.
 
Sally encourages you not to accept or adopt the all too common attitude of ‘you’re pregnant so what did you expect?!

Post natal is where all the fun starts, learning how to retrain your abdominals and pelvic floor and look after a baby at the same time. So often women accept continence problems that creep on as we get older as ‘their lot in life’ when in many cases a simple exercise programme can have them symptom free. We need to spread the word girls! Your pelvic floor is a muscle like any other and we are on a mission to expel the myths and tell people however old you are it can be retrained.
 
Then there are our team of masseurs who can ‘iron out’ those tight neck & shoulder muscles after breastfeeding or simply all that carrying you are now doing. A timely massage can often prevent some of those stubborn pains from starting and can immediately improve your posture so it’s well worth letting loved ones know what a great idea this for a present!

Massage is of course a great compliment to the existing care we already provide for our expectant and new mums.
 
There are several classes now available specifically tailored to new and soon-to-be-mums, as well as ante- and post natal personal training.
 
We are also very lucky to have the Pilates Sanctuary working alongside us here in our studio space for pilates classes on Saturday morning/afternoon and also within there ownresistance equipped studio for small groups, duo sessions and one-to-ones.  Call Alice on 07881953843  or Julia on 07903236088.
