Graham Anderson working on ATP Tennis Tour
Although Andy Murray is in the headlines following his defeat in the Australian Open Final at the hands of Roger Federer he is not the only World Class Scott on the ATP Tennis Tour.
Balance's Graham Anderson begins a new role on tour for the ATP (the association for mens professional tennis) next week at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament 2010 in Rotterdam. This is an ATP World Tour 500 tournament (which means the winner gets 500 points towards the World Tour Finals).
At the Rotterdam tournament Graham will be the ATP's only physio representative at the event responsible for the 32 players in singles draw plus the doubles and wheelchair players. Long days are part and parcel of a physios role in professional tennis often finishing at midnight after an 8am start. Dealing with all court calls, pre-match preparation, post match recovery and locker room treatments it is the pivotal role in the medical team.
Graham joins the ATP's global team of physiotherapists which draws upon professionals from Australia, USA, Spain, France and now the UK. In 2010 Graham will be at the Rotterdam, Madrid, Monte Carlo and Lyon events. In addition to this work for the ATP Graham will still continue the physio roles at the 3 major UK pro tennis events: Queens, Wimbledon and the O2 World Tour Masters Final.
